It was   the seat of Taizhou Prefecture. Gucheng, which means ancient city, gets its   name from the National Major Protection Site Taizhou City Wall in the area.   It is the political and cultural center of Linhai. Gucheng Neighborhood   covers an area of 81 square kilometers. There are 21 administrative villages,   14 communities. The population here is 123 thousand. The neighborhood boasts   developed service industry. It is the modern service industry center in   northern Taizhou. There are two business areas, viz., Chonghe Business Area   and Jingjiang Business Area. Gucheng Neighborhood also boasts rich tourism   resources. Taizhou City Wall is listed in Chinese World Cultural Heritage   Tentative List. Taizhou City Wall Culture&Tourism Area has passed the   National 5A Scenic Area qualification assessment. Donghu Village has finished   the village renovation. Jiangxiazhu New Area has taken its shape. Fulong   Riverside New City construction has been on the way. In 2017, the gross   industrial product amounts to 5.5 billion Yuan RMB(about USD 846 million).   The tax amounts to 948 million Yuan RMB(about USD 150 million).
