Linhai is a city with balanced compulsory education in China. It is a city strong in education at provincial level. It is titled Zhejiang Model City for Extra-Curriculum Cultural and Physical Activities. At present, in Linhai, there are 215 kindergartens, 89 elementary schools(with another 11 teaching places), 36 middle schools, nine high schools, nine vocational high schools, three nine-year education schools, four schools for migrant laborers’ children, one special education school, 19 adult education/community schools, one teachers training school, one TV university, two universities and colleges. Among these institutions, there are two first class characteristic model high schools at provincial level, three second class characteristic model high schools, two key vocational and technical schools at national level, 111 standardized schools for compulsory education at provincial level, 198 provincial level kindergartens, two model towns for pre-school education in Taizhou, 11 towns for qualified pre-school education in Taizhou. Pre-schooling enrollment rate reaches 95.4%. Both enrollment and consolidation rates of elementary and middle school students reach 100%. 99.11% of middle school students enter high school after graduation. Gross enrollment rate of high school students reaches 99.84%. There are 193.7 thousand students of all levels. There are 8,760 public school teachers, among whom, 14 are in-service Special Grade Teachers at provincial level, 99 are Taizhou Famous Teachers, six are Famous Headmasters, two are Famous Teachers listed in National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program. In 2017, there are 1,424(429 of them are students learning arts) students who are admitted by Class A Enrollment universities and colleges. This leads other counties in Taizhou. Five students are admitted by Peking University and Tsinghua University respectively.
